Why This Sisterhood Journey
This Sacred Sisterhood Journey was born from a deep remembering: that Black women are sacred, powerful, and central to the restoration of our people. Our traditional cultures knew this. They honored the wisdom, resilience, and spiritual force of Black womanhood.

Yet through colonization, enslavement, and generations of violence and erasure, that sacredness was attacked. The world has placed heavy burdens on Black women, but within us still burns the power to rise, heal, and lead.

This journey exists to support that rising.
It is a sacred space for Black women to reconnect with ancestral wisdom, restore the mind, renew the spirit, and reclaim the wholeness we were never meant to lose.

Because when a Black woman heals, whole communities are transformed. When she remembers who she is, a nation is reborn.

What It’s About

We lose our senses to protect ourselves from the realities of the world. Numbing is normal under these conditions. This retreat offers a way to awaken the senses through African-centered techniques through new and familiar ways you’ve never experienced.

Dr. Kambon affectionately known in the community as Nana or Mama Mawiyah is known for her events in the US and Ghana that elevate a knowledge of self.

WHAT TO BRING/PACK:
I suggest one suitcase with the following items. Also, clothing made from natural fibers like cotton or linen is recommended, but not required.

✈️ Fly into RDU Airport ONLY:
Please make sure to fly into Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) — it’s the closest and most convenient airport to the retreat. Other airports are not recommended.

🚌 Taking a Bus or Train?
If you’re using Greyhound or Amtrak, choose routes that bring you into the Raleigh area. From there, it’s a smooth ride over.

🚘 Local Ride Options:
From RDU or Raleigh transit hubs, it’s about a 20-minute drive to Wendell, NC via 440, 64 East, or 540.
Use Uber or UberXL/XXL, with rides typically costing $30–$60, depending on your vehicle choice.
